Remember this? Julia Roberts and the Valentino black and white dress

There are many different reasons to make a dress memorable. It can be because is extravagant, super sexy, glamorous, or even because it’s a huge mess! This one thought is definitely memorable for its elegance. I’m not a Julia Roberts´s fan but I have to agree that this Valentino dress she wore in 2001 is one of the most elegant gowns I’ve seen in the Oscars.

Valentino´s purpose was to remember some classic fashion icons such as like Jackie Kennedy and Elizabeth Taylor, women that he has dressed in the past. And the purpose was truly accomplished.

Remember This? Kate Beckinsale: J. Mendel dress at the 2009 Golden Globes

Kate wore this J. Mendel dress at the Golden Globes 2009 ceremony. For me, it’s one of the most beautiful gowns I´ve ever seen in the red carpet and so far the best to represent a flower shape in a woman´s body.

It’s not easy to wear a white dress, you can look other stunning or trashy but this gorgeous dress in Kate´s hot body is the perfect combination.

The English actress loves J. Mendel creations. Kate has worn several times his dresses in red carpet events. Here are some of the models:

It was the year 1991 and Cindy Crawford was still married with Hollywood superstar Richard Gere, the pair showed at the Oscar´s night and all eyes were on her. This Versace dress made history and was voted more than once one of the best red carpet gowns of all time.

Megan Fox in Roberto Cavalli burgundy dress

Megan Fox wore this one shoulder burgundy gown in the German premiere of the movie Transformers in 2009. The actress was all about showing some leg and the truth is that after this appearance every last red Cavalli dress sold out in three days.

I loved the little snake wrapping the waist and the colour looked great on her. It’s definitely a look to remember.

Remember this? Michelle Williams´s Vera Wang dress

At the Oscars ceremony in 2006 Michelle Williams showed up with this wonderful Vera Wang dress. This dress made such a huge success that was considered by Cosmopolitan magazine as one of the best dresses ever seen at the Oscars ceremony.
The color, the silhouette, and the way fits Michelle´s body are all together important factors for this designation.

This classic Vera Wang gown is lovely but I think it’s definitely the bold saffron colour, sultry red lips and deco jewels that make the look really pop.

Remember this? Demi Moore and the cover of W magazine

Do any of you remember the famous cover of W magazine with Demi Moore? I bet so! So much controversy around that cover because of Demi´s body. Some said the magazine cropped Demi´s head and put it on the Balmain´s model body, other said the picture has so much Photoshop work that one of Demi´s hip was taken off.

True or not the fact is that this cover is one to be remembered. Demi was stunning in that Balmain dress, that was itself a piece of art.

Remember this? Cate Blanchet’s lilac Givenchy dress

To some people it was the night´s hit to others though it was a disaster. This Givenchy Couture dress worn by Cate Blanchett at the 2011 Oscar ceremony was the buzz of the evening.

I personally loved the dress and looked beautifully in Cate. I am suspicious because I love this actress but regardless the preferences I consider this dress super original, beautiful and stunning.
The pleated lilac chiffon gown embroidered with pearls details! And the yellow over the lilac doing such a cool contrasting color. How fantastic!

Actually all Givenchy 2011 spring collection was absolutely amazing. One of the most original and creative collections in my personal opinion.

Florence Welch and Liv Tyler, two other celebrities wearing this amazing collection. The one worn by Florence could be a “Remember this” too; I loved this dress so much.

Remember this? Gnyneth Paltrow and Pink Dress

Let’s go back to 1999 and to the Academy Awards. All the attentions were at one single person…. Gwyneth Paltrow. Not only because she won the Oscar for best actress but also because she was wearing a true princess dress.

It’s known by the Pink Dress and is considered one of the greatest dresses in the history of the red carpet. The Grace Kelly style, and the fact of being pink (a color not used to be seen in the red carpet events) gave Paltrow the credit of bringing the pink back into fashion.

Its far for being a favorite for me, actually I love her style and there is so many more dresses she wear that I adore, but this one is for sure one to be remembered.

Remember this? Marion Cotillard and the Jean Paul Gaultier mermaid dress

This lady has the gift of taking the stage of all red carpets. It would be easy to name not only one but several stunning looks used by her but this one, Oh My!

This night, when Marion Cotillard walked with this magnificent Jean Paul Gaultier model eyes were glued on this white and silver mermaid inspired. The dress was printed with fish scales and laboriously hand-embroidered. Undoubtedly a piece of art!

Plus she took the Oscar home… what a night!

Remember this? Nicole Kidman and the red Balenciaga dress

In 2007, at the Oscar ceremony, Nicole Kidman showed up with this beautiful Balenciaga dress. Since then is considered one of the best looks of the actress who already had several appearances on the red carpet.
The dress was so successful that comes to be elected as one of the most memorable dresses used in the event.

Personally I believe that in fact it is one of the most fashionable dresses at the Oscars and Nicole Kidman has the ideal figure for such a dress. In fact this could have been a fiasco if used by someone else, but in Nicole´s body was the icing on top of the cake.

Remember this? Eva Mendes and the Dior white dress

I’m starting today a new subject called Remember this? It’s a collection of posts where I will try to select pictures of looks that made history, or at least have a history in my memory.

My intention is to select outfits that were good enough to be remembered. I hope you enjoy it and somehow agree with my choices.

So for this first post my choice goes to this beautiful Eva Mendes´s white dress. This stunning moment happened in the 2009 Golden Globes red carpet and still today is considered one of the most beautiful dresses. Everything was perfect, the white Dior dress on Eva´s latin skin, the turquoise necklace, the way her hair was pulled...

For me it's definitely a look to remember and to admire.
